“When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.” Luke 2:43-44.

“but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances,” Luke 2:44.

Jesus parents were looking for Him among their relatives. They left Him in Jerusalem, they began to look for Him where they were among their relatives after a distance of a day’s journey.

Where are you looking for Jesus? How are you looking for the missing link between you and Jesus? Do you take time to know where you left Him? Or do you want to be patching it up? If the foundation be destroyed, what should you do?

Many are giving excuses for their spiritual flaws. Your family crisis must first be traceable to you and not to your spouse. If you make your way right, all other things shall fall in place. “When a man’s ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Prov. 16:7.

Stop thinking that your predicament is caused by others. Stop looking for Jesus among your relatives and acquittance. Face the reality. Go back to your Jerusalem, where you left Him. He will not leave where He should be. We are the one to look for Him.

It is better not to leave Him behind. But, if we discover we have left me; we must act like Joseph and Mary who “After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.”

We must summon courage, disregard shame, set aside other things to always seek the kingdom of God with all we have.

Even if after leaving Him for a day and it requires you going three days to get Him back, the sacrifice worth the time of refreshing that follows. David recognized this. Study his attitude in Psalm 51:1-19.

In conclusion, “If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” Mark 8:38.

Never be ashamed to give your life to Jesus or rededicate your life to Him afresh. Enough of playing church. It has never done anybody any good, it won’t do you any good either. Stop searching for Jesus of Nazareth where He is not.

Prayer: Lord, I come to do your will. Please forgive me for going my own way and doing my own thing. From today, give me the grace to search for you through your words and find you in Jesus name. Amen
