I am sure there is a lot of variance by locale but I am wondering if someone has expertise related to the visitation of a prisoner that they can share? I have been ministering to a family in Colorado recently hit by tragedy. A member of the family has been incarcerated under charges of 2nd degree murder, the family believes it is self defense. I would like to help this family walk through this situation, especially the accused, but my current barrier is around visitation. I am interested in the general protocol as a pastor (Long time NACM ordained), what to expect, and important keys to know (e.g. how might my efforts adversely impact the situation)? I appreciate any guidance the community can provide. Thank you in advance.
