You cant take your money with you when you go. The Bible says you cant serve God and your money. You see, the Bible doesn’t say that its a bad thing to have money but it’s the love of money that’s the root of all evil. It takes money to pay the light bill at your church or the phone. Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel, yes that takes money. It takes money for you to be a blessing in the lives of others. I want to show you what the scriptures have to say.
In Math 19:16 in the account of the rich young ruler. He came to Jesus and said what good thing must I do to be saved? Jesus said pretty much obey the commandments. The man said I have done that since I was a child. Jesus said told him that He still lacked one thing and told him to sell everything he had and give it to the poor and come follow me.
Jesus isnt sending us a message here that we need to be broke to serve Him. The one thing that the man was missing wasn’t the fact that He wasn’t poor, but rather that he worshiped his money. Jesus knew it would be hard for him to put God before his money. This doesn’t mean that being broke pleases God.
In Math 6:24 it says that we cannot serve God and money. If you truly serve God, then your money serves God as well. The Bible says that tithing is after the order of Malcheziedik, which came before the old covenant and it didn’t end with the new covenant. You see I understand that its not just 10 percent of my money that belongs to God but everything I have is His. I don’t want to rob God of the tythe and offering because when I do that, I’m making my money more important than God.
You and I cant out give God. Luke 6: 38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
God said in His word that it is He that shall supply all of your needs. It’s not money that supplies all our needs. Where is our faith in our money or in our God. We have the ability to make our money serve God. It’s by faith that we can please God with our money. Our giving can be an act of worship. Our giving is our seed, that will grow and produce a harvest in our lives. Giving can be the faith act that causes God to release the miracle we been seeking Him for.
It takes money to pay the utilities at your church, there are many things that the church needs which have to be bought with money. Jesus told us to go into all the world and preach, this takes money. Building ministries takes money changing lives takes money. Feeding the hungry takes money. The church with money can do great things for His kingdom.
God doesn’t care if you drive a fancy car of if you have a nice house, He doesn’t have a problem with that. If we are a giver or not this is whats important to God. Are we going to serve God with our money and fulfill God’s purpose with our money; or will we serve ourself and our own purpose. I want to handle my money with an open hand to God, because He will bless me when I trust Him to provide for me. If we are faithful with our money He will make sure our finances are blessed.
It’s not giving to get, but rather its giving and trusting God will supply. He is the provider, watch Him provide when we give in faith. Its hard to release what you have when your faith is in what you have to provide. If we have however put our faith in God and release what we have He will release the supernatural. The bible says that faith pleases God.
If the Holy Spirit tells you to give and you give in faith you will never be the same again. God wants us to be givers. He wants us to be a blessing. He wants us to tip good. He wants us to have nice things. He wants us to have those things because of our greed. He wants to bless us because we are in covenant with Him. A true servant of God gets blessed because they don’t worship their money, but they are givers.
There are those who judge and just say look at that preacher driving that fancy car. Maybe they cant see the millions the preacher gave away. Maybe someone gave them the car, maybe God wants them to have the nice car. How are those same people going to react to walking on streets of Gold in heaven or even the gates made from giant pearls. Maybe God will bless them and they will get to live in a trailer park in heaven.
This is our covenant with God and I think you can see it includes money. Where do you see in these next scriptures that God wants us poor?
9 The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. 10 Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. 11 The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.
12 The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. 13 The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.
How you gonna lend if your broke. Where do you see in these scriptures that God wants you broke. Broke aint blessed. You can see that God wants to bless those who are in covenant with Him with wealth to do His purpose. If everything you have belongs to God and He can trust you with it He will bless you abundantly. If God says give and you faithfully obey Him watch Him bless your life. If He is your God and your money isn’t, just watch Him bless you. When God learns that you are truly faithful you wont lack in anything that you need.
Luke 6: 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
