Luke, Chapters 14-16…

I’ve noticed the overall theme of these chapters is the same as the parable of the seeds and the ground. The Gospel reaches everyone, including those concerned with the cares of this life, but those cares, and our focus on them, can cost the effect of the Gospel on the soul. It’s one thing to have worldly friends to help when times get rough, but being concerned with this life can cost the riches of the life to come. The good news is that some of us repent of our focus on this world and what it offers, and turn to the Lord. The love of money, like a root, feeds all kinds of evil, but focus on the Lord will cause the evil one to run from us. It’s all about where our focus is: being the greatest in this life, or being the least in this life and getting God’s attention for good reasons.
