Abide in me, gracious God

The thought of thine infinite serenity
cheers me,
For I am toiling and moiling, troubled
and distressed,
but thou art for ever at perfect peace.
Thy designs cause thee no fear or care
of unfulfilment,
they stand fast as the eternal hills.
Thy power knows no bond,
thy goodness no stint.
Thou bringest order out of confusion,
and my defeats are thy victories:
The Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
I come to thee as a sinner with cares and sorrows,
to leave every concern entirely to thee,
every sin calling for Christ’s precious blood;
Revive deep spirituality in my heart;
Let me live near to the great Shepherd,
hear his voice, know its tones, follow its calls.
Keep me from deception by causing me to abide
in the truth,
from harm by helping me to walk in the power
of the Spirit.
Give me intenser faith in the eternal verities,
burning into me by experience the things I know;
Let me never be ashamed of the truth of the gospel,
that I may bear its reproach,
vindicate it,
see Jesus as its essence,
know in it the power of the Spirit.
Lord, help me, for I am often lukewarm and chill;
unbelief mars my confidence,
sin makes me forget thee.
Let the weeds that grow in my soul be cut
at their roots;
Grant me to know that I truly live only
when I live to thee,
that all else is trifling.
Thy presence alone can make me holy, devout,
strong and happy.
Abide in me, gracious God.

Justin Sa (20)

I have always wanted to be like my father since I can remember. I remember when I was 4 years old, I went to visit my grandparents in Shahinshahr.
I went to university at the age of 21. After graduating from university, I worked hard.
I always tried to prove myself to myself and others. I was always worried about what people thought of me. I was actually completely insecure. And deep down I knew I was never the man I wanted to be. After all, I have always known about Jesus since I was a child. I always knew he was an amazing man: he was the Son of God - he performed amazing miracles. My parents taught me and imitated the Christian life. I knew that Jesus loved me and died for my sins. And I believed it. But maybe that was what I did not realize. That Jesus was a man I could never be. Jesus died on the cross for his enemies. Jesus was a real man, a real man. He did the hardest thing. He did it so that I would not be.
And so nothing in my life is higher than trusting in Jesus. He has not only died for my sins, He has not only forgiven me and promised me eternal life. But he has taken away the burden of being a man. He did it for me, so I do not have to worry.
This is what has led me to where I am today. According to Jesus, I am someone and I do not need to seek confirmation. It was in 2012 that we decided to tell people about Jesus, and at home meetings in our city, Shahin Shahr, I encouraged people to convert to Jesus.
Ever since I became a Christian, I have noticed a change in my life. I feel better about myself now. I'm not ashamed to say I work for a church. The beautiful thing now is that I can focus on that.
I am an introvert. And I'm always one of those introverts who prefers my personal space. My mission in life is to find dignity and security.
So I try to reach this mission by finding my own space.
But the problem with keeping myself is that I do not have the confidence that anyone wants to accept me. For example, I often think, "Why does God want to do something with me?" I was not a special person to care about. Can't I hide and try to make it myself? For example, on a sunny afternoon, I used to read my Bible on the back lawn and realized that I was not someone God cared about. I was disobedient and deserved to be separated from him and his good.
The more I read, the more I realized that I did not need to hide from God because he freely offered peace and security in Jesus. Jesus did not stay away from us, he died and lived for us and died. I just had to trust him and be accepted by God forever.
I still find that even when I want to get away from the hardships of life, God is trustworthy and gives me hope that I will persevere as long as I am with him in complete peace and security in heaven. There are still many times when I fill my head and feel like I'm no one special, but then I remember the real stories in the Bible of the unlikely people he still worked on, like Moses. , And God reminds me that he has already been accepted. He can help me do what he wants me to do.
Now, you may be looking for security to separate yourself from others and the world, or you may be looking for it elsewhere, but in the end we are all looking for peace and security. The problem is that we can not control life. Everything on earth will always be hard. So how do you seek refuge? God offers you His peace and security in Jesus.
