I believe the Bible is divinely inspired (2 Timothy 3:16, 17) and is the word of God.There is only one true and living God who is manifested in three eternal and equal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 3:17, 18).I believe that Jesus Christ was virgin-born, sinless (Hebrews 4:15), died on the cross for our sins, was raised bodily from the dead on the third day, and is coming again (1 Corinthians 15:3, 4: John 14:3, Revelation 22:20).Jesus is the Son of God, God in the flesh and Lord of all (John 1:1, 14; Romans 10:9; Acts 10:36).Man is a sinner (Romans 3:23) and is saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8, 9).Man’s response to God’s grace includes repentance (Acts 17:30), publicly confessing Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9, Matthew 10:32, 33) and baptism by immersion (Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47). Every Christian is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17) and is indwelt, empowered and gifted by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9) to become like Christ in character and deed.Christ is the head and chief shepherd of the church (Colossians 1:18; 1 Peter 5:4).The purpose of the church is to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20). I understand every believer to be an ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20) and minister (Ephesians 4:11, 12) of the gospel to help win our community to Jesus Christ.Eternal Security; “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand, ” (John 10:27-28). Christ has done all that is needed for our salvation and he says that those who have eternal life will never perish. I believe those who appeared to be Christian but fell away never were Christians to begin with (1 John 2:19). Eternal security does not mean that we have a license to sin (Rom. 5:21-6:2) and those who say it is a license to sin, do not understand eternal security and how God’s ability to regenerate the sinner and turn his heart to repentance (2 Tim. 2:25). Because of the diversity of opinions on this issue, I do not condemn or pass judgment upon those who believe it is possible to lose one’s salvation. However, I oppose the position that a person’s security before God is maintained through his good works since this would be works of righteousness. The Rapture, I believe, to be the event where, upon Jesus’ return, those who have died in Christ and those Christians who are then alive will be physically caught up to the clouds and meet the Lord Jesus in the air. We will then forever be with the Lord (1 Thess. 4:16-5:2). The Church: God calls Christians to His Church where the Word of God is preached, where baptism and the Lord’s Supper (communion) are administered, where believers are disciples and disciplined, and where believers serve to build up one another (Matt. 16:18). There is no one true earthly ecclesiastical body that is ‘the true church.’ Rather, the True Church consists of all true believers wherever they might be.
