The crave for service has been from immemorial. In John 6:28-29, the people who came to Jesus thought they would impress Him through service.
“Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”
God’s perspective is different from ours. We think of work (serving) while He thinks of knowing Him (relationship). The more we know of Him the easier it will be for us to perform and get result.
No wonder, Daniel 11:32 says, “the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
He called the twelve to first be with Him (Mark 3:14) and learn of Him (Matt. 11:29). It is then He can send us out and we will be His true ambassador.
Substituting learning of Him for service on the field is a lopsided service. The real service is learning to become Christlike. The other is an extension (secondary). “I have chosen you to be with me,” he told them. “I will also send you out to preach,” Mark 3:14.
Do the former without neglecting the latter. Never put the cart before the horse.
Be like Mary and not like Martha. As you are taking care of others vineyard, never neglect yours. Remain blessed.
