COSTLY ASSUMPTION 1

COSTLY ASSUMPTION

When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances.” Luke 2:43-44.

Sometime ago, a sister did not get what she was asked to do right. When she was told that the way she did it was not right, she responded that ” I thought you said…”.

At another occasion, a brother who was writing his final exam in a tertiary institution ought to start it by 12noon, but arrived the venue by 2pm when they had already finished the exam. This cost him a whole session. His colleagues asked him, out of concern, where he was when the exam was on. He said, I assumed my friend would call me when he was coming.

In this above scenario, the parent of Jesus Christ went back to Nazareth after the feast in Jerusalem without their child they took along to the feast. They travelled a whole day assuming he was with them. What a costly assumption!

All around us are people who claim they have Jesus when in the actual sense are far from Him. Many think it is playing religion by attending church, paying tithe and offering, fasting, going to a mountain or valley to pray, preaching the gospel etc that depict they are qualified as Christians. As much as all these are very good for believers, they never represent salvation.
Christ must first accept you before He could accept your services.

When did you actually decide to follow Jesus? When and where did you give your life to Jesus as Lord and personal Saviour? If anyone is duly wedded, he or she must know when and where it happened.

If you don’t know when it happened, better kneel down and commit your life to Christ now. Tomorrow may be too late.

If at the same time, you’ve accepted Him before but you lost Him. I mean you are no more with Him and you know it. You better rush back before it is too late. Rededicate your life back to the Captain of your salvation. Delay is dangerous.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to you for genuine salvation of my soul. Please, write my name in your book of life. Let the time of refreshing come to me in Jesus name. Amen.
