RIGHTEOUSNESS OF PHARISEES
“And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words and said unto him, Are we blind also? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.” John 9:40-41.
These Pharisees could be likened to believers of today. They claimed they were spiritually perfect. The response of the Lord showed their real state. He told them that “If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.”
Beloved, as much as you and I work out our salvation with fear and trembling, let us know that our approval is on the platform of GOD’S MERCY. May you wear God’s mercy on daily basis in Jesus name. Joseph and Mary unknowingly left Jesus behind.
These people were so rigid on the laws they thought they knew so much that they never allowed God to change their perception and direction. The Messiah came and these religious juggernaut could not discover this in the Scripture they claimed piloted their lives.
It is the picture of many who assumed they know today who do not know as they suppose to know.
Jesus Christ saw them as those “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” 2 Timothy 3:7.
The Lord really knew who they were. He called them swindlers, enemies of heavenly course, those that love gold than God, fraudulent, chameleon, murderers and generation of murderers, those who dangerously entrap the simple hearted and deadly. Read Matthew 23:13-31, Luke 11:43-44.
We need to check our lives as we study the above scriptures. Any trace of these must be prayerfully and conscientiously dealt with.
Humility is required to follow the Lord to the end. Let Him ex-ray your life always.
Prayer: Father, help me. Let my righteousness exceed those of Pharisees in Jesus name. Amen.
